This CD was especially important for me to get her because she works with refugees from other countries and knows many people of all ethnicities. I purchased this for my sister and 3 month old nephew. Also with the CD is a small little world map that shows the location of each country of every song's origin. So I figured, what better way to get something with songs from everywhere and that puts a baby to sleep, too. My sister likes the songs (they're fairly adult friendly and yet mellow and unique) and my nephew likes them, too. I had purchased this CD quite a while ago for myself and wanted my sister to have a copy.
I would highly recommend this to anyone. This lullaby CD is so relaxing and great for babies, children, and adults. The rest of the songs are lovely. My only complaint is that I don't particularly care for the vocals on track 5, so we usually skip over that one. My daughter and I have listened to it every night at bedtime since she was born almost 11 months ago, and I still enjoy it very much. I just purchased another copy of the CD as a baby shower gift for my sister-in-law.
I'm ordering 3 more today - my hair stylist is having a baby and I'm taking this to my next appointment and I'll have a couple more on hand. It's not just for children either. The music is very soothing and unique. I initially became aware of this CD when my granddaughter was in the hospital following open heart surgery. You won't be disappointed. Since that time, I have purchased numerous CDs for everyone I know having a baby. The hospital had this CD available and it was so soothing to her, we had to have it for her recovery. It makes a great shower gift.
Traditional lullabies can be really sad and turn my kids off, but most of these songs are fairly upbeat. My little boys like to listen to music while they fall asleep at night. I especially love the Bobby McFerrin opening song, it is wonderful. The kids really like this CD, and so do I. I had been looking for a lullaby collection that was quiet and gentle, but not sad. This is perfect.
Very mellow. Even my husband likes to leave this CD on as we go to bed hours later - it's so soothing. Beautiful sounds. Our daughter still sleeps in our room. She listens to this during her bedtime routine and falls asleep listening to it.
